The HMAS Brisbane was a Perth-class guided-missile destroyer that served in the Royal Australian Navy from 1967 to 2001. She was decommissioned and sunk as an artificial reef in 2005. Today, the HMAS Brisbane is a popular diving destination, offering divers a unique opportunity to explore a piece of Australian naval history.
The HMAS Brisbane is located in 27 meters of water just 15 minutes off the coast of Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast. The wreck is in good condition and is home to a variety of marine life including large schools of fish, trevally and bait fish, along with resident bull and eagle rays, large Queensland grouper, crayfish, and octopus.

Water temperature ranges from 18 degrees in winter to 27 degrees in summer and visibility from 10 metres to 30 metres.

HMAS Brisbane Wreck Dive
Scuttled in 2005, the ex-Australian Navy Destroyer is 133 metre longs and lies in 28 metre of water, with the main deck in 18 metres and the funnels only four metres from the surface. The wreck was specifically prepared to allow safe diver penetration for any level of certified diver, to explore the Captain’s cabin, engine, boiler, control rooms and more. The conservation park surrounding the wreck is now home to more than 200 species of sea life including large schools of pelagic fish, various rays, turtles, grey nurse sharks, Queensland Gropers and bast fish as well as the amazing soft and hard corals and vast amount of macro life. Sunreef is the only operator with exclusive access via two moorings in the premier amidship position.
