One afternoon at Yarragon’s beautiful St Jarlath’s Church, presenting the best of Australian music, food and wine.
Come with us on a journey with beautiful baroque instruments from Lutes and theorbos to modern classical guitars in an exploration of works through the ages. The event features Sally-Anne Russell (mezzo-soprano) and friends, Samantha Cohen (lute/theorbo/guitar) and Geoffrey Morris (guitars).
The first part will have a demonstration of a range of plucked instruments and discussion of their part in the rise of the solo singer and the birth of opera. The second part has a concert of Baroque opera works with Continuo including The incredible Didos Lament by Purcell, and works by Handel. This will be followed by a move into arias by Mozart and Spanish works with guitars de Falla, Mozart, and finish with some surprises, perhaps a tango or two or some Sondheim.
The event’s food will be prepared by Long Paddock Lindenow, with wine from Entropy Wines and coffee from Proud Mary Coffee.
