Not just a surf school but a surf tour, Kool Katz takes you on a fun-filled 20-minute scenic coastal ride to the pristine sands of Seven Mile Beach at Lennox Head – or to Shaws Bay in Ballina. On a good day, you’ll surf with the dolphins and watch the whales.
Kool Katz runs group and private surf classes daily, all year round and caters to beginners to intermediate surfing levels. Lessons are open to everyone from six years to 60-plus. Kool Katz is a registered COVID-safe business.

Five Day Learn to Surf Package
Five, four hour group lessons. On day one you’ll learn to stand up and ride waves of at least 40 metres – they guarantee that – and learn to catch your own waves. Day two you’ll learn to do small turns, and day three you’ll learn to do bigger turns and ‘take the drop’. Day four you’ll consolidate what you’ve learned so far, and on day five you’ll get more tips and advice tailored to where you’re at.

Four Hour Group Surf Lesson
Learn to surf in one easy lesson. Get individual attention in the water. Guaranteed to ride a wave for 40 metres or your money back.
Four hour tours are run daily at 9.15am and 2.15pm at Ballina and Lennox Head, including exclusive use of Shaws Bay, East Ballina.
Safe surfboard and wetsuit or rash vest included.
Private Surf Lesson for Two
A three and a half hour intensive learn to surf session with just you, a friend, and your own qualified coach who will get you standing up and surfing waves.
All transfers to and from the beach and surfing equipment is included along with their exclusive guarantee -Stand and ride a wave for 40 metres or your money back! Tour includes 30 minutes instruction on the sand, and two hours water time with your coaching pushing you onto waves.
One on One Private Beginner Surf Lesson
One-on-one surf lesson teaching the basics of surfing. Get undivided attention for two and a half hours. A professional Kool Katz coach will teach you the easiest method of standing up on a surfboard on the sand first. Then they’ll work with you in the water, pushing you onto the waves until you are riding them. You’ll then be taught to catch your own waves. They guarantee you’ll ride a wave for 40 metres or your money back!
Three Day Learn to Surf Package
Three, four hour group lessons. On day one you’ll learn how to stand up and ride a wave for at least 40 metres, and catch your own waves. Day two you’ll learn to do small turns, and day three you receive instruction on how to do bigger turns and ‘take the drop’. Individual attention in the water. Safe surfboard and wetsuit included.
Seven Day Tour
