Highlights

Blyth Homestead

Built in 1928, the heritage-listed Blyth Homestead was an outstation of Stapleton Station. owned and operated by a branch of our family, the Sargents, prior to much of the station being resumed and declared as Litchfield National Park in 1986. The rough tin and cypress house has been restored as an example of the innovative, rude architecture of the bush. Hear our ‘inside’ stories of life in the region in those early days.

Reynolds River Track

The Reynolds River Track is a rugged and scenic 4WD track that winds through the rugged and remote landscapes of the western side of Litchfield National Park. The track passes through dense woodlands, wetlands, and riverine environments, as well as several deep creek crossings, providing glimpses of the diverse flora and fauna, and Litchfield’s famed magnetic termite mounds, that thrive in the park. Along the way, visitors can enjoy opportunities to photograph spectacular scenery, birds and wild animals. The track also leads to scenic waterfalls, offering chances to cool off in natural, croc-safe pools. The track rewards visitors with a sense of isolation and the chance to experience the beauty and tranquility of Litchfield’s more remote areas. The track is usually open from July till November.

Tjaynera (Sandy Creek Falls)

The jewel of Litchfield National Park, Tjaynera is reached by a 1.7 km shady walk along Sandy Creek. Surrounded by lush monsoon forest and towering cliffs, the falls cascade into a deep, inviting plunge pool. Its plunge pool is never crowded and provides a stunning backdrop for a cooling swim in its pristine fresh springwater.

Surprise Creek Falls

Surprise Creek Falls is a secluded oasis surrounded by monsoon forest and rugged sandstone cliffs. This hidden gem features cascading waterfalls that tumble into crystal-clear rock pools, perfect for a refreshing swim. Visitors can enjoy a short, scenic walk through the bush before reaching the tranquil pools. With its unspoiled beauty and peaceful atmosphere, Surprise Creek Falls is an ideal spot for nature lovers seeking relaxation and adventure in the Australian outback.
