Description
Rated as one of the 10 best walks in the World this iconic walk commences at the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain and traverses some of the most fantastic scenery in the World before it finishes at Lake St Clair – Australia’s deepest freshwater lake. Glacial carved lakes, high mountain peaks, ancient temperate rainforests, moorlands, button grass plains, waterfalls, and King Billy pines up to 2000 years old, all add up to the experience of a lifetime.
The trek experiences all the beauty of the fantastic wilderness areas that Tasmania and Australia has to offer.
Logistics include pick up at Launceston airport, transport to Cradle Mountain with twin share accommodation, all Parks fees, ferry at Lake St Clair, and transport to Hobart.
Each night will finish at established camps, with toilets available, fresh water, and huts to sit and cook and perhaps play your game of cards with fellow trekkers.
The two guides provide cooking facilities and carry a satellite phone and PLB to cover emergencies.
You will trek over basic tracks, sometimes on boardwalks, pass Tasmania’s highest peaks, visit cascading waterfalls, and view historic huts built from the 1930s, all the while experiencing the best Tasmania has to offer.
