Itinerary highlights
Overland Track
Tarkine Rainforest
Step into one of the last true wilderness areas on Earth – Tasmania’s Tarkine Rainforest. This ancient, cool-temperate rainforest is rich with towering myrtles, moss-draped man ferns, and deep river valleys. As you walk beneath the canopy, you’ll experience the quiet stillness of a landscape that’s been largely unchanged for millennia. Home to unique wildlife and steeped in cultural significance, the Tarkine offers a rare chance to connect with nature in its rawest form.
Pieman River
The Pieman River winds through Tasmania’s wild west coast, surrounded by dense rainforest and steep, rugged banks. A peaceful cruise along the river reveals mirror-like reflections, ancient Huon pines and a true sense of isolation. It’s a moment to slow down and take in the layered beauty of the Tarkine from the water — where wilderness meets stillness, and history runs deep in every bend.
Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain is a place of quiet drama — rugged peaks rising above still alpine lakes, with winding trails through button grass plains and stands of ancient pencil pines. You’ll walk past mossy creek beds, spot wombats grazing near the track, and feel the crunch of boardwalk underfoot as mist rolls in over Dove Lake. It’s a landscape that invites you to slow down and take it all in.
