Koomal Dreaming

Based in Dunsborough, in South West Western Australia, Koomal Dreaming provides an opportunity for visitors to experience Wadandi and Bibbulmun country through the eyes of the traditional owners.

‘Koomal’ is the traditional Aboriginal name of Wadandi man Josh Whiteland. Passionate, learned and spiritually aware, Josh has a personal commitment to sharing his deep knowledge of his culture with visitors. He created Koomal Dreaming so he could communicate at least part of his profound connection with his land and his people with guests from around Australia and the world.

Journey through ancient landscapes and discover the world’s oldest living culture. Walk beside Wadandi custodian Josh ‘Koomal’ Whiteland through Wadandi and Bibbulmun Country and connect with history like never before.

Taste the native foods that have sustained generations, learn about native flora and fauna, be moved by the melody of Josh’s didgeridoo music deep within the cave, and connect with the Dreaming spirits that have enriched the lives of the Wadandi and Bibbulmun people since time began.

Koomal Dreaming has two Meeting places within the Margaret River Region, located in Yallingup at Ngilgi Cave and at Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse precinct.

Koomal Dreaming is part of the Margaret River Region and Australia’s South West. In 2024, Josh was the recipient of the Tourism Western Australia Gold Award for Individual Excellence in Aboriginal Tourism.
