The only circular jetty in the Southern Hemisphere, Whyalla’s striking jetty is a standout feature along the city’s picturesque foreshore. Designed with strong community input, its distinctive circular form creates an inviting space for fishing, walking and sightseeing.

Construction commenced in September 2019, with both locals and visitors watching the landmark structure take shape. Extending 315 metres in total length, including its full circumference, the jetty offers a spacious and engaging experience over the water.

Custom-designed lighting runs along the entire handrail, transforming the jetty into a 24-hour attraction and providing a warm, ambient glow after dark. Accessibility has been thoughtfully integrated, with six specially designed sliding shelves along the top rail, making fishing easier for children and people with disability.

Built by Maritime Construction, the project also showcases local industry, with the Whyalla Steelworks supplying the majority of the steel. The structure is supported by 102 uniquely designed pylons driven deep into the seabed, ensuring strength and longevity.
