Riverdowns is at the centre of one of Australia’s most famous freshwater fisheries.

Fly fishing instruction and guiding can be arranged for guests and visitors. Your guide, Andy Matenson, has over 20 years of professional guiding experience. He guides in Victoria’s High Country, New England, and the Snowy Mountains. He is a certified casting instructor with the Fly Fishing Federation.

Riverdowns Fly Fishing have 600 metres of private frontage to the historic Howqua River, and are an easy drive to several other famous trout streams, including the Delatite, the Jamieson and the Upper Goulburn.

A half day fly fishing lesson usually begins with a lesson on the grass and then you will move to the water, with around three hours of fishing time. Tota lesson duraiton is four hours for one to three people.

Riverdowns can cater for beginners to advanced fly fisherfolk. Learn to fish the river and/or still water, whatever is your preference. All gear is included.

Tea and coffee and snacks are provided.

Andy Matenson Fly Fishing Guiding and Instruction

Andy is based at Riverdowns on the Historic Howqua River, right at the centre of one of Australia’s most famous freshwater fisheries.

Fly fishing instruction and guiding can be arranged for guests and visitors. Your guide, Andy Matenson, has over 30 years of professional guiding experience. He guides in Victoria’s High Country, New England, and the Snowy Mountains. He is a Certified Casting Instructor with the International Fly Fishing Federation.

Riverdowns Fly Fishing has 600 metres of private frontage to the historic Howqua River, and other famous trout streams, including the Delatite, Jamieson and Upper Goulburn Rivers are within easy reach.

Riverdowns Fly Fishing Guiding and Instruction offer two hour lessons, half day trips and all day guiding. All gear can be supplied.
