Itinerary highlights

Jamison Lookout (Wentworth Falls)

Jamison Lookout gives you that Blue Mountains moment almost the second you step out of the sidecar. The short, sealed path from the Wentworth Falls picnic area leads to a viewing platform that opens onto the Jamison Valley, a wide bowl of eucalyptus forest that shifts from deep green to misty blue as the light changes. On a clear day you can trace the sandstone escarpment toward Leura and Katoomba, and pick out the flat silhouette of Mount Solitary across the valley. Its the kind of view that makes cameras feel too small, so most people just lean on the rail for a while and breathe.

Sublime Pt Lookout

Sublime Point Lookout offers stunning, uninterrupted views of the Jamison Valley with a peaceful, less crowded atmosphere. Its 5-10 minute walk from the sidecar along a fairly narrow track, but defnitely worth it when you get there – the view from the cliff is simply stunning.

Leura Village

Leura is a quaint and charming mountain village known for its boutique shops, art galleries, and cafes along Leura Mall, lined with cherry trees. Its fascinating to stroll both sides of the Mall, they offer a wealth of experience and something for everyone.

Echo Point Lookout

The Three Sisters at Echo Point is one of the most iconic and recognizable landmarks in the Blue Mountains, and for good reason. The rock formations are absolutely stunning up close, with dramatic cliffs and deep valleys stretching out into the distance. The viewing platform at Echo Point offers unobstructed, panoramic views of the Three Sisters – perfect for photos and soaking in the scenery.

The lookout is well-designed, spacious, and easily accessible, but it’s definitely a popular spot. For this view, its worth braving the crowds, especially if it’s your first time in the Blue Mountains.

Govetts Leap Lookout

A scenic lookout with a 180 degree view of the Blue Mountains range. You can see the valley stretch out endlessly with cliffs, forest, and sky, all blending into one amazing view. Excellent place to relax and take in the beauty of nature.

Bell, Bilpin, and the Bells Line of Road

Bells Line of Road was a traditional Aboriginal pathway across the Blue Mountains, which the Darug people showed to Archibald Bell in 1823, 8 years after the Great Western Highway opened. It is a much more hilly and more winding than the Great Western Highway, and is the preferred choice of Sydney’s motorcyclists. Returning to Penrith on the Bell Lines about 30 minutes longer than retracing our path back down the Great Western Highway, but if you have the time, its great to finish the trip along the road less travelled.
