This experience works two ways: visitors to Southern Tasmania can skip the car and ferry entirely with pickup from Kettering, or guests already staying on Bruny can join from Barnes Bay.
While this is the signature itinerary, they’re completely flexible—they can adjust the day to suit your group’s interests and needs.
Your time on the water takes you through the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and up into the mouth of the Derwent River, with a pass by Tasmania’s first lighthouse at Iron Pot. Where you’ll linger longer, guided by the weather and what the day offers.
Following your water experience, the heart of the day is lunch at Bruny Island Wild—an architecturally designed space perched on the water’s edge, where chef Ray Jones prepares seasonal dishes using ingredients sourced from the island and surrounding region.
Afterwards, you’ll have time to view exhibitions at brunyNORTH gallery and explore the beaches and coastlines of North Bruny on foot.
Never rushed, never crowded – and truly authentic.

Operation information
Islander Adventure Co
Islander Adventure Co is a boutique tour operator based on North Bruny Island, offering private sea and land experiences for small groups of up to eight.
Run by a local family embedded in the island community, Islander serves both day-trippers and overnight guests — giving day-trip groups direct water access across the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, and connecting overnight visitors to North Bruny without the windy dirt roads of the Dennes Point loop.
Every experience is designed to go off the beaten path, away from the crowds and into the heart of Bruny. And every experience is exclusively private. Enquiry-based booking means each journey is shaped around what your group actually wants, with local intel at the helm.
Islander’s signature experience is the Bruny Island Wild Long Lunch — a six-hour sea, land, and table journey combining an adventure cruise through the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and chef-prepared long lunch at Bruny Island Wild.
Guests also have free time to explore Dennes Point on foot – including the Heritage Trail, walk or swim at Nebraska Beach, and peruse BrunyNORTH Gallery.
For groups wanting the water without the land component, standalone private boat tours are available. Bespoke itineraries and private charters can also be arranged.
