The Five Day Man from Snowy River and Heritage Ride conducted by Watson’s Mountain Country Trail Rides leaves from the farm and on day one, rides through to the Howqua Valley and stays overnight at the Riverhouse. Guests enjoying their own room and a gourmet barbecue dinner.
On day two, enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast and then with a packhorse support traverse up the Howqua River and feeder track through to the historic Howqua Hills. Here guests are welcomed at Stockyard Creek, an original pioneer homestead, and guests enjoy their own room with a shared bathroom. Enjoy a three course dinner in the character filled kitchen and living quarters.
Day three riding is a more relaxing day visiting the many historic sites of this property and surrounds. An extraordinary eight course degustation dinner is provided on this night.
On day four, you ride the high track back to the Riverhouse with beautiful views over the Howqua River. Enjoy dinner at the iconic Kevington ‘Hilton’ Hotel.
On day five after a big breakfast you will ride to the downhill scene from the ‘Man from Snowy River’ movie and finish with lunch at the farm house.

Watson's Mountain Country Trail Rides
Watson’s Mountain Country Trail Rides offer horse riding in the High Country that leaves from a family farm, located three hours north east of Melbourne near the town of Mansfield.
Rides start from one hour through to seven days in duration and are suitable for all levels of riding ability. Most of the rides show guests where the famous downhill scene from the ‘Man from Snowy River’ was filmed and they all feature spectacular scenery. Most days you will see native wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and a colorful array of bird life.
Their most popular rides are one to three hour rides, two day two night Bunkhouse rides, two day luxury rides and their feature rides are a five day ‘Man from Snowy River’ and heritage ride that has been judged one of the 20 best adventure experiences in Australia, and a seven day Man from Snowy River Celebration ride travels to the highest peaks in the High Country.
All equipment is supplied. Watson’s Mountain Country Trail Rides have been offering rides in the High Country since 1982.
