Between 1875 and 1914 it is estimated that 140,000 ounces of gold was mined here. You can stroll across The Common and see many old mines.

There are over 50 mine shafts and a Chinese oven which is evidence of the strong and important role Chinese miners played in the development of the Central NSW goldfields.
