A stroll through one of the most picturesque and well-used parts of the Adelaide Park Lands, combining history, nature, sport and recreation.
Blue Gum Park / Kurangga (Park 20) hosts a number of highly appreciated sporting facilities, for BMX bikes, petanque, basketball, tennis, and athletics, as well as a 100-year-old children’s playground, and the Tree Climb facility.
The South Park Lands Creek winds its way though Blue Gum Park / Kurangga, across stunning tree-lined footpath avenues and the Park Lands trail.

Itinerary highlights
The South Park Lands Creek
The presence of a watercourse through Kurangga has been largely obscured with the advent of dense closed woodland plantings. Many would regard this as the most beautiful natural area of Kurangga A host of old growth river red gums grow along the creek-line here.
BMX Bike Tracks
Adelaide City Dirt Trails is a hub for BMX recreation and draws users from all over the country and the world. Bike riders of all ages and skill levels can enjoy a variety of different bike tracks – from beginners to advanced. Suitable for a range of bikes, this is the perfect area for family and friends to get out, be active and get a little dirty. The large slopes and mini hills are reserved for older, experienced riders who take their adventure sport very seriously.
TreeClimb Aerial adventure course
The 16,000 square metre course is available only for paying customers but the ground below is still be open space available to the public. There’s a range of 70 obstacles: suspension lines, bridges, flying foxes and climbing obstacles set amongst the existing trees, ground plantings and the South Park Lands Creek.
It has been successful in one of the City Council’s aims of encouraging young people to visit the Park Lands to take part in more physical activity.
Century-old, tree-lined pathways
Sellar Avenue (pathway) is lined by many fine elderly specimens of White Cedar dating to just before the first world war -1910-12.
Kurrajong Avenue runs north-south from Greenhill Road to South Terrace – lined with mature Kurrajong trees.

Adelaide Park Lands Walking Tours
Guided Walks to explore little-known nooks and crannies of Adelaide’s greatest treasure: the unique open spaces of its Park Lands.
Adelaide is the only city in the world garlanded by Park Lands. In effect the city is built inside a park, and each part of the Park has its own unique features, heritage, and current usage.
Guided Walks are led by trained Tour leaders and can take between 90 minutes and two hours depending upon the location.
