Itinerary highlights

Albert Bridge

1879 State Heritage-listed bridge carrying Frome Road over the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari.

Re-vegetation along river

Riverbanks painstakingly restored with vegetation to reflect pre-European landscape.

River Torrens Sculpture Park

Five public art works installed in 1994 on the banks of the River Torrens.

Doug Nicholls bridge

Erected in 2010, this award-winning pedestrian and cycling bridge over the River Torrens is “an object of art as much as an element of public infrastructure”.

Botanic Park arboretum

Stretching across the full width of Park 11, this Park once hosted a Speakers Corner but these days is best known as Adelaide’s ideal picnic location, as well as an outdoor event space for concerts and festivals.

Grey-headed flying fox colony

Tens of thousands of these flying mammals roost in the tall trees, after foraging far and wide for fruit.

Botanic High School

Built in 2017, extended in 2023, a recent example of State Government attrition of Park Lands.

Adelaide Park Lands Walking Tours

Guided Walks to explore little-known nooks and crannies of Adelaide’s greatest treasure: the unique open spaces of its Park Lands.

Adelaide is the only city in the world garlanded by Park Lands. In effect the city is built inside a park, and each part of the Park has its own unique features, heritage, and current usage.

Guided Walks are led by trained Tour leaders and can take between 90 minutes and two hours depending upon the location.
