Highlights

  • Explore the diverse flora of Denise Norton Park, discovering native and non-native trees along the way.
  • Uncover local history as guides share tales of South Australians fighting for environmental preservation.
  • Stroll through Possum Park, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and community facilities in North Adelaide.
  • Wear sturdy shoes for a comfortable 2.5 km walk, perfect for families and nature enthusiasts alike.

This two-hour Guided Walk will feature the two Parks either side of Jeffcott Road in North Adelaide. Skirting around the massive State Government Aquatic Centre development site, we’ll focus on the community facilities and wide biodiversity of Denise Norton Park / Pardipardinyilla (Park 2) and the northern section of Possum Park / Pirltawardli (Park 1).

Our commentary will include stories of two famous South Australians who’ve been involved in fights to (1) protect dozens of trees from Government chainsaws, and (2) re-open a closed road through these Park Lands. We’ll point out the surprisingly-varied collected of native and non-native trees that line the fairways of the northern golf course.

Adelaide Park Lands Walking Tours

Guided Walks to explore little-known nooks and crannies of Adelaide’s greatest treasure: the unique open spaces of its Park Lands.

Adelaide is the only city in the world garlanded by Park Lands. In effect the city is built inside a park, and each part of the Park has its own unique features, heritage, and current usage.

Guided Walks are led by trained Tour leaders and can take between 90 minutes and two hours depending upon the location.
