Highlights

  • Hike through the rugged terrain of Pigeon House Mountain, experiencing breathtaking views of the Buddawangs and coastline.
  • Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pristine waters of the Clyde River after conquering the challenging hike.
  • Marvel at the historical significance of Didthol, the Aboriginal name for the mountain, as you explore its rich heritage.
  • Relax with convenient hotel pickups, making your adventure hassle-free and family-friendly for all ages.

The best short hike on the NSW South Coast. Be amazed by the history surrounding this great walk, the Aboriginal name for the mountain Didthol, meaning Big Mountain, later named by Captain Cook in 1770 as Pigeon House Hill for its shape, clearly seen from the ocean.

Enjoy comfortable hotel pickups, an amazing hike, lunch and a swim at the freshwater of the Clyde River. The hike itself is considered tough, but an extremely rewarding experience, the views from the summit to the west into magical wilderness regions of the Buddawangs show sandstone cliffs, gorges and escarpments. Views to the east show the amazing NSW coastline stretching as far as the eye can see.

Itinerary highlights

Pigeon House Mountain Summit

The Summit of Pigeon House mountain gives you incredible views into the western Buddawang wilderness area and east to the Pacific Ocean. While the hike is considered to be challenging with steep sections and steel ladders to reach the views, it is well worth the effort! Most people with relative levels of fitness can achieve this hike.

Yadboro Flat

Take a dip or soak your feet in the cool waters of the Upper Clyde River after your hike. The pristine upper Clyde flows through the Morton National Park, a view to its headwaters are a feature of the hike, an even better connection is to visit its free flowing rapids after your hike effort!
