This 1898 National Trust mansion with stunning views overlooking Queenstown operates four elegant queen-size en suite guest rooms plus a private two queen-sized bedroom wing sharing facilities, all upstairs. The tariff includes a silver service breakfast, two guest lounges plus many extras. You are two minutes from award-winning Wilderness Railway experience and ideally located for King River Rafting, Mountain Biking and Strahan River Cruises (45-minute drive), walking/hiking tracks or passive, personalised two -three-hour wilderness tours,2 local museums, and several galleries.
Guests who love history can also easily become absorbed in Penghana’s rich story by visiting our ballroom’s permanent photographic display. As part of guests’ stay, we offer a personalised presentation of the house’s history and its occupants over the past 125-plus years. The exhibition is also available to visiting interest groups including a Devonshire Tea or light luncheon.
Penghana is an ideal spot to “unpack once” and do it all (Note: just on two hours from Cradle Mountain and Corrina for a day trip). OR if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway to recharge.
This is a perfect location for short-stay group bookings and special occasions. We offer private catering and/also formal dinners for 12. The ballroom space is suitable for functions of up to 40 people for training sessions, board meetings, small conferences also with personalised catering offered.

Studio/Bedsit
The “Studio/bedsit” is Penghana’s budget accommodation option is at the rear of, and separate from, the main house.
This 17 sq m space has been cleverly configured to be fully self-contained without being cramped. Guests have access to other indoor/outdoor spaces during their stay, which are highlighted when you arrive because at Penghana B&B we welcome all our guests.
The Studio/Bedsit suits one guest,or is a cosy private pad for a couple. It comes air conditioning, a comfortable queen bed, a well-appointed kitchenette, ensuite, TV, great WiFi . Breakfast supplies available onsite at small additional cost.
Owen Room
The Owen is Penghana’s sought-after suite because of its breathtaking uninterrupted views and is the accommodation of choice for many visiting 21st-century VIPS.
It features a comfortable queen bed, sitting area, separate dressing room, en suite and in-room silver service tea/coffee facilities. There is a large desk looking out to that amazing view which is ideal for corporate clients to work or catch up on their emails and social media.
You will also enjoy a complimentary port and lots of creature comforts to make your stay special (extra towels, bathrobes, slippers, hot water bottle, extra pillows etc) From your hilltop position you’ll enjoy amazing summer sunset colours and winter snow caps while watching the comings and goings of the Queenstown’s township.

Huxley
A spacious queen-sized ensuite room (upstairs) with a mix of tradition with a modern twist including a walk-in wardrobe, and a newly renovated bathroom complete with shower over the bath. For bath lovers, there are bubbles and bath salts too.
A table suitable for working or just catching up with emails is provided.
Two sizes of fluffy towels, bathrobes and a range of guest consumables provided.
You won’t feel you need to stay in your room as you have access to two sitting rooms. One is shared with two other guest rooms. There’s a kitchenette too with a fridge, microwave, toaster, platters, and crockery for those takeaway meals plus a choice of pod or award-winning plunger coffee, a wide tea selection, hot chocolate, fresh milk, homemade fruitcake. and filtered water.
This room is suitable only for persons over 18 years of age
Sedgwick Room
The smallest of our upstairs en suite rooms (15.2 sq m) plus compact en-suite), ideally suits solo/business travellers or a couple NOT looking for a suite – it is a typical motel-size room.
Complete with laptop friendly-sized table and chair, it is airy, quiet and stylishly decorated. Netflix and more than one bath towel are standard at Penghana.
You have a choice of two sittings rooms to relax in one of which you share with 2 other rooms, access to Penghana’s licensed bar plus access to a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, pod plus award-winning plunger coffee, tea selection, hot chocolate, fresh milk, homemade fruit cake and filtered water. Only suitable for persons over age of 18 years
VIP Suite
This is a two bedroom suite with shared bathroom facilities, in its own wing of the house – upstairs. Ideal for 2 -4 guests. Both bedrooms have 1 x Queen size bed, are extremely spacious, have elegant decor, sitting area, desk space, Netflix and the many extras Penghana is known for.
One room has a silver tea service as well as award winning plunger and pod coffee, hot chocolate, wine glasses and more. Tariff includes a home cooked, Australian/English style, silver service breakfast in the downstairs formal dining room daily, for each guest booked.
Note: If you don’t need both rooms, your privacy is assured as the second room will not be occupied.
Lyell Room
The Lyell room is one of Penghana’s upstairs ensuite accommodation offerings. This spacious elegant and calming room comprises of a Queen size bed, desk area and chaise lounge. It includes all the familiar extras Penghana is known for such as a choice of bath towels (bath sheet and standard towel), fluffy bath robe and slippers, night-time water carafe and more.
It shares the upstairs sitting room/kitchenette with the Huxley and Sedgwick rooms.
Tariff includes a ‘traditional English style silver service cooked breakfast, featuring homemade and Tasmanian products.
