Master potter Ian Beniston is known for his lustrous glazes, bold colour, texture and clean lines, creating timeless works.
Working from his Sensei Pots Studio Gallery, Ian has worked as a professional potter and ceramic artist for over 40 years. All pieces are wheel-thrown by hand, with glazes meticulously developed by Ian in the studio.
Sensei Pots is a quaint gallery set in the scenic hinterland between Dunsborough and Yallingup. A wide range of Ian’s work is showcased and available to purchase, from large ornamental pieces that serve as striking focal points to functional items such as bowls, plates, teapots, vases and more.
The gallery looks into Ian’s studio, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience and a glimpse into his process and the space where each piece is created. At times, visitors may have the opportunity to watch Ian at work on the wheel.
In 2000, Ian was honoured to become a Queen’s Exhibitor after being invited to present several of his large forms to Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh during their visit to Western Australia. One piece was selected as a permanent addition to the Royal Collection.
Located in the Margaret River region, the gallery is just a short 12-minute drive from the heart of Dunsborough, taking in one of the most spectacular views of Geographe Bay along the way.
