The Standpipe Golf Motor Inn has a rich and fascinating history from its origins as an outback hotel back in 1883. At that time, camels were used to transport travellers across the desert, and Afghan cameleers or teamsters would stop to water their camels at the Standpipe before continuing on their journey into the dusty north.
