You are invited to come to the last wild edible mushroom hunt this year! The season to pick edible mushrooms in cool climate pine forests around Sydney is slowly coming to a close. This is the last opportunity to find the delicacies highly prized by the best Australian chefs before winter frosts come.
Join a guided mushroom foraging tour with an experienced forager for a great opportunity to learn how to find, pick and process wild edible mushrooms.
We meet at Lidsdale State Forest (just off Great Western Highway) and from there take a short drive deeper into a pine forests to harvest a precious nature’s gift – wild mushrooms.
You will learn how to identify and collect edible mushrooms, process them to cook a scrumptious lunch and see how to preserve the bounty. Your guide will teach you how to safely recognise and pick them, and will run a safety check of your basket.
