The Three Pyramids is a collection of three coral bommies on the sheltered western side of Lady Elliot Island. Rising from the sand in depths from 20m, these coral heads attract a great variety of marine life, with each one home to a good population of reef fish and invertebrates. A close look at these coral heads will often reveal many wonderful critters, like octopus, shrimps, crabs, nudibranchs and even leaf scorpionfish. These bommies are also home to turtles, coral trout, batfish, moray eels and tasselled wobbegongs. The largest bommie is also a busy cleaning station, popular with manta rays. However, divers should also inspect the sand between and around the bommies as this is a good place to see stingrays, shovelnose rays, leopard sharks and colonies of garden eels.
