Over the next 5 hours, you will experience the Coorong in all its glory, under the watchful eye of local photographer Leon Meade. We will disembark at a remote location on Younghusband Peninsula to be immersed in this richly indigenous land before returning later in the afternoon, providing an opportunity for rich golden light to flood the waterways of the Coorong, capturing migratory birdlife and local flora and fauna.
Itinerary highlights
Spirit of the Coorong
Located South East of Adelaide, the Coorong is synonymous with natural beauty. Waterways, flora, and fauna await to be photographed and captured for future memories. When onboard the ‘Spirit of the Coorong’, a delicious lunch (plus morning & afternoon tea) is served as we cruise up the Coorong through ‘Storm Boy’ country towards the Murray Mouth. Our private cruise allows us to stop along the beach for an optional wander up the dunes into rich indigenous cultural sites, where we’ll pop out on the 90 Mile Beach featuring the roaring Southern Ocean.
We then make our way through the quaint fishing village of the Coorong shacks before heading past the Murray mouth and towards the Goolwa barrage. Specky sights of the lifestyle of the area presents itself, such as old wooden boats, abundant birdlife and the happy-go-lucky kayakers paddling around. As we go through the Goolwa barrage, built in the 1930s, we may be lucky enough to hang out with the lazy New Zealand fur seals and their feathered friends.
