Resisting easy categorisation, experimental R&B French-Senegalese musician anaiis offers a night of sonic grace and introspection at the White Bay Power Station.

Part of Biennale of Sydney’s Art After Dark series, it’s one of three Friday nights of innovative, left-of-centre music among the ongoing Biennale exhibition and outdoor food offerings, presented by Vivid Sydney.

Based in London, anaiis (her lower-case name in honour of theorist bell hooks) blends the personal and political in her music, pulling from rich textures across R&B, soul and alternative genres to make them entirely her own.

Breaking through with ‘Nina’ in 2018, her most recent album Devotion & the Black Divine is a mythic self-portrait through motherhood, grief and reclaimed identity.

Art After Dark transforms into a bold music program unfolding on Friday evenings at White Bay Power Station. Continuing its reputation as a late-night hub for discovery, expect genre-defying performances, immersive sonic environments, and unexpected collaborations, all set within the awe-inspiring industrial architecture of White Bay Power Station.

NSW Wine Masterclass – Mount Majura Vineyard
Each Art After Dark ticket includes a complimentary NSW Wine masterclass. During this week, be joined by Mount Majura Vineyard.

The NSW Wine Masterclasses invite audiences to sip, learn and discover, with complimentary tastings and insider insights from NSW winemakers — consider it your fast-track to sounding like a wine expert (no exam required).
