Itinerary highlights
Battery Point Architecture
Wonderfully preserved Georgian, Victorian and Federation architecture. The oldest residential precinct in Australia and Hobart’s first residential area. Hobart’s first Gun Battery in Prince’s Park, Australia’s only Circus and historically important streetscapes wherever you look. Battery Point was home to rich merchants and drunken shipyard workers. Unique in Australia, we find a mansion next to a tiny worker’s cottage. Now mostly privately owned homes, this area is Tasmania’s jewel in the crown.
