Explore Cape Leeuwin, the most south-westerly point of Australia, where the Indian and Southern oceans meet in a powerful and ever-changing seascape.

Just a 15-minute drive from Augusta, or under four hours from Perth, the cape is a must-visit for anyone exploring the region. You can arrive on foot from Augusta along the Leeuwin Biddi Trail, a scenic coastal walk along an accessible pathway, approximately 3.3km from the Augusta Boat Harbour to the cape.

Cape Leeuwin is also the southern trailhead of the Cape to Cape Track, a 135-kilometre coastal journey that winds past spectacular beaches, forests, caves, and rugged headlands, stretching north to Cape Naturaliste.

While you’re there, check out the historic water wheel, built in 1895 to supply fresh water to the lighthouse keepers, now solidified in stone, a reminder of the ingenuity required to live and work in this remote and wild place.

From June to September, migrating humpback and southern right whales are often seen close to shore, resting in the protected waters of Flinders Bay before continuing their journey north.
