Ingrams Campground is in the foothills of Mt Baw Baw on the banks of the Western Tyers River. This family-friendly campground provides a unique camping experience in a remote forest setting.
Three hours drive east of Melbourne, the campground is at the site of the former Western Tyers settlement. It once housed the Ingrams sawmill, which was established in 1940.
The campground has 17 campsites suitable for tent and vehicle-based camping. There are two toilet blocks, two picnic shelters and several firepits and picnic tables.
Visitors can enjoy three river platforms for easy river access and fishing. There is also a small recreation oval, complete with goal posts, ready for a game of kick-to-kick.
The timber heritage walk is a great way to explore the area’s rich timber heritage, showcasing historic relics and sites that once formed part of the settlement.
Ingrams Campground can only be accessed by four-wheel-drive, with low-range recommended for the steep access track. It is not suitable for caravans and camper trailers for this reason.
Due to seasonal road closures, there is no access to the campground from the Thursday after ANZAC Day in April until the end of October.
