Come explore Narbethong, a town in central Victoria, located on the Maroondah Highway, nestled at the end of the Black Spur. It is a picturesque hamlet surrounded by lush forests, midway between Healesville and Marysville..
PNL-4WD offer a wide range of Nationally Recognised Courses available for public, private and corporate customers include Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, 4WDrive Instructor. They are a Registered Training Organisation that can issue Nationally Recognised Qualifications (the same as any TAFE or University.)
PNL-4WD also host fun one day Tag-Along tours. A guided 4WD experience, designed for visitors, new drivers, and those wanting an adventurous day exploring Victoria’s great outdoors. It is a relaxed and supportive introduction to off-road driving, without the pressure of a formal training course.
Held year round and access is not restrictive.

Intermediate 4WD & Recovery Course
PNL 4WDriving’s Intermediate Four Wheel Drive and Recovery Course is a jam packed two-days, combining theory and practical knowledge. Designed to build your skills in navigating rugged terrain, performing vehicle recoveries, and carrying out vehicle inspections in off-road conditions.
Whether you’re driving for work or weekend adventures, this nationally accredited course will improve your capability, safety, and confidence behind the wheel.
During the course, you will learn how to select and apply the correct gear, range, and driving techniques for different off-road environments. You will develop the skills to confidently drive a 4WD vehicle across challenging terrain, including steep and uneven surfaces as well as water crossings. The training also covers how to perform basic vehicle recoveries using standard recovery equipment, along with how to carry out routine inspections and essential safety checks while in the field.
You will get to experience the unique challenge of a night drive (not for mixed online).
All passing students receive a Certificate of Attainment for your completed nationally recognised qualifications and a course manual for future reference and revision (not for mixed online).
Also available in a Mixed Online format – one day online theory, one day onsite practical. Approximately 10 hours each.
4WD Tag-Along Tour
PNL-4WDriving Tag-Along Tours are a guided 4×4 touring experiences, designed for visitors, new drivers, and those wanting a more relaxed day exploring Victoria’s great outdoors.
They are ideal for drivers who want to experience Victoria’s beautiful countryside in a safe, supported, and social environment. Whether you’re new to 4WDriving, visiting from interstate, or simply prefer extra guidance, these tours focus on scenic touring, confidence building, and enjoyable off-road experiences.
With a maximum group of 10 vehicles you explore the real world bush tracks in the Marysville State Forest. Terrain may include gravel roads, bush tracks, mild technical sections, and scenic lookouts — allowing you to enjoy the journey while developing your skills in real-world conditions.
On all trips you will gain practical experience and have an opportunity to have your questions answered. Throughout the day, fully equipped PNL 4WDriving instructor vehicles provide support, advice, and assistance where required.
Basic Introduction to 4WDriving Course
PNL 4WDrivings Basic Introduction to 4WD is a one day non-accredited course designed to provide participants with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to operate your own four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle on unsealed roads.
It includes specialised driving techniques, instruction on obstacles and bush driving with practice, theory and a great experience. With the opportunity to upgrade to a qualification should you decide to do a second day.
PNL 4WDriving give you the opportunity to ask questions and learning is held in an easy going and informative environment.
The focus is on driving safely on graded and formed dirt roads with slight to moderate inclines. Ideal for beginners or those new to off-road driving looking to build a solid foundation before progressing to more advanced training.
