Narkoojee Winery is nestled in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range in Eastern Gippsland, a beautiful setting with magnificent views of the Strzelecki Ranges, approximately two hours drive from Melbourne city.
At the Cellar door, visitors can taste the hand-crafted wines and linger for the magnificent food in the adjoining restaurant overlooking the vines.
The Gippsland location offers a cool, long ripening period, producing classic, cool climate wines. Narkoojee’s wine range includes chardonnay, sparkling chardonnay, viognier, merlot, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, sparkling cabernet and a rosé. Axel Friend is now the chief winemaker, sharing the role with his father Harry who with his wife Val, established and developed the grapegrowing and winemaking enterprise.
James Halliday has described Narkoojee’s wines as consistently immaculate, with two wines previously listed in his top 100. The 2022 edition of the Halliday Wine Companion has rated Narkoojee as a ‘5-Red-Star-Winery’.
The winery’s Cellar Door is open Wednesday to Sunday 10:30am – 4:30pm. The onsite Restaurant is open for lunch Wednesday to Sunday and for events by arrangement. Bookings recommended.
