Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari is a family-owned and operated business that began operations in December 2012. Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari’s marine tours depart daily from Christmas Cove Marina, Penneshaw.
These marine tours are operated from a 38 seater fully undercover 12 metre RIB, 7.5 metre 12-seater Gemini Waverider and a 26-seater custom built snorkeling vessel. These vessels provide comfort, and a true outdoor nature experience with every seat providing a bird’s eye view of the wildlife, coastline and water.
Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari offer 3 types of tours:
A 75-minute Ocean Safari: Travel stunning ancient coastline, viewing dolphins, seals, eagles, whales (seasonal) and birdlife. The guide provides informative local history.
A 2-hour Snorkeling Safari: Snorkel with seals and swim with dolphins in the wild. Guests can also view on this tour. Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari provide wet-suits, masks, snorkels and fins. Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari are the only operator in SA to offer the unique experience of swimming with Long Nosed Seals.
Private Chartered Safari’s available in their fully licensed 38 seater vessel. Private functions, with onboard catering and alcohol service accommodating large groups with a tailored experience.
Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari won Gold at the SA Tourism Awards in 2018, 2019, and 2021 and has been inducted into the Tourism Hall of Fame.
Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari is open 365 days, 7.00am-7.00pm.

2-Hour Swim with Dolphin, Seal and Coastal Snorkelling
Have the opportunity to swim with wild dolphins OR among seals and snorkel some of Kangaroo Island’s stunning coastline. It’s an amazing wildlife encounter! They provide wetsuits, masks, snorkels and fins.
Arrive at The Visitor Information Centre in Penneshaw (Howard drive) where you will be fitted into a wetsuit, mask, snorkel and flippers and provided with a safety brief. Then jump on board our 26-seater vessels in search of the marine life that inhabits the incredible coastline.
Spot the cheeky seals lounging on the rocks and playing in the water. Then it’s time to dive in! These curious seals can be quite interactive and playful and provide a fun snorkelling experience. Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari is the only operator in South Australia that provides the opportunity to swim with the Long-nosed Seals.
Search for the dolphin pods that reside in these coastal waters and take the opportunity to swim alongside them in the wild. A truly unforgettable wildlife encounter. Your friendly guide will also provide informative commentary along the way.

Travel along the ancient Kangaroo Island coastline with the opportunity to see dolphins, seals, eagles and other birdlife. Enjoy an exhilarating ride along the beautiful Kangaroo Island coastline. Witness the pristine waters, stunning coastline and marine animals that inhabit this thriving environment. Whales pass through these waters in winter and can provide an awesome spectacle. The skipper provides informative commentary as you cruise along. This is a must-do activity while you are on the island.
Departing daily at 9 am and 3 pm, this is a fantastic wildlife experience and fun for the whole family
