The inaugural Southern Rail Trail Running Festival is based in the South Gippsland Region of Victoria.
The courses follow the Great Southern Rail Trail, meandering through lush forests, rolling farmland, charming small towns and stunning views of Wilsons Promontory. Distances include 100km, 72km, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km Fun Run and a 2km Family Dash.
The 100km trail run is a scenic challenge that showcases the natural beauty of South Gippsland. Starting in the coastal town of Port Welshpool, the route runs inland through a series of charming towns and picturesque countryside. It can be completed solo or in a relay team of two or four over four legs ranging from 17km to 33km.
The other long distances start at differing points along the Trail. The 10km and 5km are both out-and-back courses based in Leongatha.
