World Heritage Area 'Wilderness on Water' 8-Day Kayaking Expedition
Highlights
- Explore Tasmania's stunning coastline, paddling through tranquil tannin-stained waters and experiencing untouched wilderness.
- Experience intimate group sizes of ten, ensuring personalised guidance and a deeper connection to nature's beauty.
- Discover remote beaches and breathtaking reflections, immersing yourself in the serene atmosphere of the Wilderness World Heritage Area.
- Embrace adventure without prior kayaking experience, as you navigate sheltered waterways and rugged coastlines with expert guides.
This trip is Australia’s ultimate multi-day sea-kayaking experience and has been named by Lonely Planet as one of the world’s ten epic sea-kayak paddles. It offers a combination of sheltered waterways and a rugged coast exposed to the Southern Ocean in a remote wilderness. Group sizes are limited to ten, with two guides, giving all participants an intimate encounter with Tasmania’s famous Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Days will be spent exploring one of Tasmania’s most beautiful coastlines, paddling through perfect reflections in the tannin-stained waters, beneath mountains that rise from the shore and stopping in at remote beaches. Previous kayaking experience is not necessary, but all participants need to be in reasonable shape, are comfortable with wilderness camping and, most of all, have a sense of adventure.
Itinerary highlights
Paddling around the Breaksea Islands in the Southern Ocean
This once-in-a-lifetime experience begins with a spectacular chartered flight over jagged mountain ranges, wide buttongrass plains or deserted coastal beaches to Bathurst Harbour within the World Heritage-listed Southwest National Park. Gaze in wonder at golden-green ridges rising steeply from sandy-white quartzite coves, and small islands that appear to float on the dark and reflective water. A highlight for many participants is paddling around the Breaksea Islands and experiencing the swell and power of Southern Ocean.
