Itinerary highlights

Open Woodland

The southern portion of Park 22 has been revegetated since the 1980s with dozens of tall trees, partially redressing the former years of neglect.

Adelaide's most popular sporting venue

24 netball courts, re-surfaced in 2018 with extensive new floodlighting.

Contested area

For decades the central part of Park 22 has been reserved for car parking, especially during netball competition. But two Adelaide hockey clubs have been fundraising with the ambition of getting a stadium and a fenced hockey pitch in this Park.

Re-greening sites

Inspect two of the sites earmarked by the City Council for major re-vegetation projects before 2030.

Creek and seasonal waterhole

See the hidden creek or drainage channel, off the beaten track, edged with reeds, sedges and other biodiversity.

"Safer Place to Gather"

Nestled in amongst secluded bushland and dirt trails, see the area set aside by the State Government and City Council, where visitors from remote indigenous communities can stay while accessing welfare and health services in Adelaide.

Adelaide Park Lands Walking Tours

Guided Walks to explore little-known nooks and crannies of Adelaide’s greatest treasure: the unique open spaces of its Park Lands.

Adelaide is the only city in the world garlanded by Park Lands. In effect the city is built inside a park, and each part of the Park has its own unique features, heritage, and current usage.

Guided Walks are led by trained Tour leaders and can take between 90 minutes and two hours depending upon the location.
