An introduction for anyone who wants to take up surfing. You will learn safety techniques, basic surf etiquette and board control to keep yourself and others safe.
The team take you right through all the important steps so you can gain a strong understanding of how to get up and start surfing.
Your Lesson includes both land-based and water-based components with important skills to prepare you before hitting the waves! This includes stretching, surf etiquette, how to pop up, take-off and dismount, rips and tides, wave height and how to paddle, pop up and catch a wave.
With each learn to surf lesson, you’ll get expert coaching with friendly surf coaches providing personalised tuition to help you get up, riding and stoked – fast. There is a limit of eight guests per coach.
Based on their expert local knowledge they choose safe surf spots determined on the day with consideration given to the ever-changing surf environment. With a choice of six locations in Torquay, Anglesea, and Lorne.

- Staff are trained in communicating with people who are deaf or have hearing loss.
Physical – Mobility
Caters for people with sufficient mobility to climb a few steps but who would benefit from fixtures to aid balance. (This includes people using walking frames and mobility aids)
Allergies and intolerances
Caters for people with allergies and intolerances.
- Modify their cooking and cleaning practices to cater for people with food allergies or chemical intolerances (could include menus with meals free from: nuts, dairy, seafood, eggs, gluten etc).
- Staff are trained to respond to allergic reactions.
- Complies with The Food Authority requirements for allergy management in food preparation.
- Equipment to respond to anaphylactic shock such as epi–pens and defibrillator.

Southern Exposure
Southern Exposure provides one day packages or multi day programs and packages for secondary and tertiary students, clubs, general public and corporate events.
Southern Exposure is an accredited ACA School Camps provider. They integrate your school camp with their surf school, mountain biking and surf kayaking programs on the Great Ocean Road and Surf Coast and the Otway Ranges from Torquay to Forrest, Lorne, Anglesea and Ocean Grove.
For 24 years, Southern Exposure’s number one priority has been to provide nature based school camp and adventures through the surf school, mountain biking and surf kayaking programs.
This year, Southern Exposure will organise school camps and nature based adventure programs for more than 15,000 people from Australia and internationally.
The school camp is based on farming land in the Spring Creek Valley approximately four kilometres from Torquay. Offering accommodation in two large cottages for 48 students and teachers. The facility comprises a full size football oval, tennis and basketball court, and enormous green spaces. With large dining / multi-purpose the camp is perfect for school camp programs.
