Itinerary highlights
Wine tasting and light bites at Dandelion Winery's Wonder Room
Your journey begins at one of the most breathtaking vantage points in the region: Dandelion Vineyards’ Wonder Room. Perched atop an ancient ridge, this architectural gem offers floor-to-ceiling windows that frame a 360-degree panorama of the rolling McLaren Vale hills and the sparkling Gulf St Vincent beyond.
The experience here is designed to awaken the senses. As you settle into the sophisticated, light-filled space, you’ll enjoy a curated tasting of Dandelion’s award-winning wines, each representing the unique “soul” of South Australian vineyards. These are artfully paired with a selection of light, seasonal bites that enhance the specific notes of each pour. The Wonder Room isn’t just a cellar door; it is a moment of stillness and beauty before you hop onto your e-bike. It sets the tone for the day, blending high-end hospitality with the raw, natural majesty of the Fleurieu Peninsula. It is the ultimate introduction to the region’s modern wine culture.
Lunch at Angove's Restaurant
A standout highlight of the SA eBikes Guided Wine Tour is the indulgent three-course lunch at the renowned Angove Family Winemakers. Nestled in the heart of the region, this experience offers more than just a meal; it is a masterclass in the flavors of the Fleurieu Coast.
As you step off your e-bike and into the elegant restaurant, you are greeted by sweeping views of organic vineyards that have been tended by the Angove family for five generations. The menu celebrates the very best of South Australian seasonal produce, with each of the three courses meticulously crafted to showcase local ingredients.
The experience is elevated by a curated selection of Angove’s premium wines. Each dish is paired with a specific varietal—from their crisp, vibrant whites to the bold, world-class Shiraz for which McLaren Vale is famous. The knowledgeable staff provides insight into the “terroir” of the region, explaining how the Mediterranean climate influences every glass. This leisurely lunch offers the perfect moment to relax and recharge, soaking in the sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere of one of Australia’s most historic wine estates before continuing your adventure.
Beresford's Vale Taphouse and Restaurant
The final leg of your adventure brings you to the striking Vale Taphouse, situated on the prestigious Beresford Estate. After a scenic glide along the Flat to Vale Trail, this stop offers a vibrant change of pace where the world of craft beer meets estate-grown excellence. The Taphouse is celebrated for its elevated position, offering expansive views over the vineyards that seem to glow in the afternoon light.
Here, the choice is yours: indulge in a refreshing beer flight featuring Vale Brewing’s local favorites, or opt for a sophisticated wine tasting from the Beresford collection. Whether you are sipping a crisp lager or a complex Grenache, the atmosphere is one of relaxed celebration. The modern, industrial-chic design of the Taphouse, combined with its spacious outdoor lawns, makes it the perfect place to toast to the day’s journey. It’s a quintessential McLaren Vale experience—where premium quality meets a laid-back, “down-south” spirit, providing a triumphant finish to your tour.
