Living aboard John and Lynne’s yacht, your days adventure begins on waking and continues unabated through to after dark, when fish can be seen leaping from the water under the ship’s strong search light. There are close encounters with nature as dolphin play at the bow and whales leap playfully in the distance.
Guests are welcome to take the helm, to sail the yacht, secure in the knowledge that the captain knows the location of all the reefs, so they can enjoy the sailing while being relieved of the responsibility. Your captain will, of course, be pleased to instruct on the finer points of sailing and many novices (at the beginning) conclude their holiday with confidence and assurance in their newly found ability.
There are so many wonderful things to do and see in the area, and from June to late September the Humpback Whales migrate to the area to give birth and mate in the shallow, protected waters of the Whitsunday’s . There are so many coral reefs to explore under the competent guidance of a Master Reef Guide .
Itinerary highlights
Sailors Sojourn, take the wheel & experience real big boat sailing
See the very best of the Whitsunday’s in luxury, style and comfort on a 7 day / 6 night adventure aboard a 60 ft, two masted, stable and spacious sailing yacht departing each Saturday from Hamilton Island Marina. Book a cabin and join other likeminded individuals or charter privately.
Visit the Outer Reef (weather permitting), Whitehaven Beach, fabulous snorkeling locations, and wonderful island walks. Stand on the bow of the yacht watching dolphins playfully riding the bow wave as we cruise along or watch for a humpback whale leaping out of the ocean. Join Lynne for a fascinating Reef Walk at low tide when the drying reef is exposed. She is a Citizen Scientist with more than 40 years experience in personally introducing guests to the interaction of inhabitants living on the Great Barrier Reef. Cruise around calm bays in one of the yachts’ kayaks, or hoist the sails and peacefully sail to the next location. We offer a “hands on” holiday, where guests can take the wheel and experience true “big boat” sailing, without having to worry about navigating between the reefs. All this and wonderful gourmet meals accompanied by fine wines.
