Yanks Jetty, Orpheus Island
Situated within the Great Barrier Reef, Orpheus Island is one of 16 islands in the Palm Island Group. Stretching 12 km long, this rugged yet beautiful island features sandy beaches, rocky headlands, and lush forest. Its fringing reef is a marine wonderland, home to over 1,100 fish species and vibrant coral gardens.
At the southern end lies Yanks Jetty, a historic site from WWII where American ships were degaussed. Today, it’s the perfect spot to relax by turquoise waters, swim, snorkel, or explore the island’s walking trails leading to panoramic views and WWII ruins. A visit to Yanks Jetty combines natural beauty, rich history, and the ultimate island escape.
