Within Mimosa Rocks National Park on the Sapphire Coast, this easy 500m track not only takes you through fragrant eucalypt forest and heathland, but also reveals gleaming vistas over the Pacific Ocean.

The trail begins at the Moon Bay carpark (the beach here alone is worth the detour) and then traverses a shady hill towards the lookout. If you’re visiting between August and November, be sure to bring your binoculars to spot whales splashing about in the ocean.

This is one immense panoramic view, spanning Nelson Beach (great for surfing and fishing) across to Baronda Head and Mimosa Rocks. Your backdrop is Gulaga (Mount Dromedary), a forested ancient volcano that is of spiritual significance to the Indigenous Yuin community.
