Taylors Bay Cottage
Highlights
- Savour panoramic views of Little Taylors Bay and Huon Island from the unique circular design of the cottage.
- Prepare delicious meals in a well-appointed kitchen using fresh, locally sourced ingredients after a day of exploration.
- Unwind in a cosy lounge with a leather sofa, enjoying warmth from the open fireplace during cooler evenings.
- Explore the shoreline for birdwatching and photography, or relax as wallabies and pademelons forage on the lawns.
Gracing the shores of Little Taylors Bay is a cosy fisherman’s cottage—commonly referred to as the roundhouse—which invites grand views of Little Taylors Bay, Huon Island, and the D’Entrecasteaux Channel into the open plan kitchen, lounge area, and master-bedroom due to its unique circular design.
Featuring a well-appointed kitchen from where guests can prepare their locally sourced ingredients and refreshments obtained from the day’s exploration, the cottage’s décor welcomes their idle consumption from either its indoor/outdoor tables as you watch the sun slowly set over the tranquil waters of Little Taylors Bay—just as the explorer Baudin and the crews of the ‘Geographie’ and ‘Naturaliste’ did in 1802.
The lounge area has a comfortable leather lounge positioned to soak up the sun or soothing heat generated by the wooden fireplace; if so desired. Perfectly suited for groups of four with two bedrooms that can be configured with either four single beds, or one king and two singles—all serviced by a shared bathroom with laundry facilities.
The location is perfect for birdwatching, photography, young families wishing to explore Taylors Bay’s sprawling shoreline and shallows—or those just wanting to curl up and turn some pages as visiting wallabies and pademelons forage upon the lawns.
